LANSA SOFTWARE PRODUCTS

While Lansa has its foundation as an iSeries 400 development tool. Lansa tools can be used to develop and deploy applications to run on other platforms such as Microsoft NT/2000 or Unix.

At the core of the Lansa development platform is their fourth generation programming language know as RDML, Rapid Development Modeling Language. One line of RDML source can produce 10 to 200 lines of 3gl source code.

The structure of RDML allows it to produce 3GL source in multiple languages including; RPG ILE, Visual C++, HTML, XML, WML and Java. This technology allows a trained programmer to produce applications for multiple interfaces and on multiple platforms with little or no retraining.

Lansa uses I/O modules to update files in the database. Business rules are defined in these I/O modules. This allows for consistant update regardless of the interface used to update the data. All database updates are performed through these I/O modules.

Lansa for the Web

You can easily use Lansa for the Web to build Internet, Intranet or Wireless applications. The same RDML language can be used to produce HTML, XML, WML and Java Script. Lansa for the web can produce applications being served off of the same iSeries 400 or you can take a mult-tier approach using iSeries 400 or NT server. Lansa for iSeries

Lansa for iSeries is the premier application development tool for the iSeries 400. It can be used to produce the more traditioanl text based interface when a Visual or Web based interface is inappropriate. These same RDML applications can be ported to graphical or web interfaces, or even to other platforms so that your investment is protected. Lansa for Integrator

LANSA Integrator is one of Lansa's newest products. B. Donald Kimball, Inc. can help you implement this product.

LANSA Integrator enables integration of Application-to-Application (A2A) and Business-to-Business (B2B) transactions through XML and Java Services. LANSA Integrator allows bi-directional XML - and other data formats - to be exchanged between you and your trading partners, regardless of what platforms they run on. It also enables integration of user-written Java Services with LANSA, RPG and COBOL applications. Visual Lansa

Visual Lansa uses the same RDML to produce a Visual C++ client talking to an RPG ILE program on the iSeries 400. Because VL uses program to program communications the connection to the iSeries is faster and more reliable than more traditional ODBC connections.

Visual LANSA provides a comprehensive Windows-based development environment. You can deploy applications to many platforms including Windows, iSeries, UNIX and Wireless devices. Visual LANSA uses LANSA’s Object Repository and 4GL to develop both client and server programs.
